The Middle School years at the French American School of Chicago (EFAC) mark a significant phase in our students’ educational journey, characterized by specialized subjects and deepened bilingual immersion. Specialized Subjects for a Comprehensive Education: In grades 6 through 8, EFAC students delve into the core subjects of French language, literature, history, geography, and civics, all taught in French. This specialized approach ensures that students not only maintain fluency in French but also gain a profound understanding of Francophone cultures and global perspectives. Artistic and Cultural Collaborations: Our middle schoolers participate in dynamic artistic and cultural projects, collaborating with other accredited French schools around the world. A Tailored Bilingual Program: Reflecting the nuanced needs of middle school education, the number of instructional hours in French is thoughtfully adjusted. Students engage in a total of 10 hours per week of French instruction, including a common class for all middle school grades and additional grade-specific sessions. This structure ensures comprehensive coverage of the French curriculum while accommodating the evolving academic demands of this age group.
CNED and Qualified Instruction: All EFAC Middle School students are enrolled in the CNED (National Center for Distance Learning). This alignment with CNED standards underscores our commitment to delivering an authentic and accredited French education in Chicago, ensuring our students are on par with their peers in France.
